Natasha Romanoff, created by Stan Lee, Don Rico, and Don Heck, first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1964. She has been portrayed in various media, most notably in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by Scarlett Johansson. Trained as a spy and assassin in the Red Room, Natasha eventually defects to the United States and becomes a member of the Avengers, using her skills to protect the world.
